GURUGRAM: The Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) aims to map the potential of manufacturing units and not harass entrepreneurs, a top Gurugram official said. Office for National Statistics (NSO) said.
“This data capturing is not like the taxation department. It is meant to add value to the industries – the engine of the country’s growth,” it said Bivas ChowdhuryAdditional Director General of NSO under the Union Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation.
“We have, in the past, experienced some reluctance and hesitation from a section of entrepreneurs to share information. This mainly stems from a lack of awareness about the purpose of the exercise and the proper method of sharing information. This is the first initiative to ensure that industries give us accurate information,” he said.
Chowdhury was addressing a day-long workshop with all leading factory owners and their syndicates organized by the ministry in Gurgaon on Thursday.
The workshop, touted as the first such effort by the country’s ministry, was organized in collaboration with them. Gurgaon Industrial Association (GIA)
