GURUGRAM: Dakshin Haryana Bijli Bitran Nigam (DHBVN) has waived over Rs 18 crore of late payment surcharge to 14,996 customers including 17 government agencies. The discom has collected dues of over Rs 26 crore from these defaulters since September Waiver of surcharge Scheme has been implemented.
PC Meena, Managing Director, DHBVN, said, “Till date, 14,996 customers have availed the Surcharge Waiver Scheme 2022. The customers who have benefited include 17 government departments like Irrigation, Public Health, Panchayats, Municipalities and Municipal Corporations. ”
“So far, we have waived surcharge of Rs 18.40 crore to 14,996 customers and recovered Rs 26.16 crore due from them,” he said. Of this amount, about Rs 9 crore was waived in Jind district, Rs 1 crore in Gurgaon and Rs 1.23 crore in Faridabad.
Gurgaon district is divided into two circles by DHBVN. In Gurgaon Circle-1, around 236 customers paid their dues of Rs 1.14 crore and availed surcharge waiver of Rs 21.87 lakh.
In Gurgaon Circle-II, around 1,132 customers availed surcharge waivers amounting to Rs 86.27 lakh and paid Rs 3.29 crore.
“Consumers who have continued electricity connection and whose connection has been disconnected due to non-payment in rural and urban areas, farmers and various government agencies can avail the benefits of this scheme till November 30,” Meena said.
