What’s next for the high-end Galaxy Tab family of three that competes with the iPad Pro for the first time? Usually a The Tab S9 trio consisted of ‘vanilla’, Plus and Ultra variants, of course, but not before Samsung is reportedly launching a new mid-range alternative to Apple’s latest “standard” iPad with a 10.9-inch screen.
The supposedly cheap Android-based slate was always expected to be called The Galaxy Tab S8 FE, however, is now set in stone thanks to the name
a well-connected insider who is almost never wrong about such things.
Roland Quandt also has some more interesting information to share ahead of the official Tab S8 FE announcement, which could happen sometime in early 2023. Specifically, the (slightly) mysterious device seems to be matching the model number SM-X506B. The “Birdie” codename from a few months ago is actually the same as the Galaxy Tab S8 FE, meaning last year’s Snapdragon 778 processor The Tab S7 FE will almost certainly be replaced by the MediaTek Kompanio 900T.
That’s great… an exotic choice for a mainstream tablet is almost guaranteed in the US (among many other markets around the world), but what’s the “pen experience” on the Galaxy Tab S8 FE worth? It is said to be completely “great”.
Wacom’s digitization, which boosts the S Pen’s speed and responsiveness to a state-of-the-art level, isn’t great by average standards. Galaxy S22 Ultra and List of Tab S8.
It’s worth noting that the Tab S7 FE also comes with a built-in stylus, which (at least to our knowledge) lacks the super-advanced Wacom digitizer technology. Unfortunately, the Tab S8 FE is believed to retain its predecessor’s LCD screen technology, rather than the ultra-high-end AMOLED panel, but… pretty much everything else is covered now.
All of these early signs seem to point to a very reasonable price for the LCD and MediaTek-packaged Galaxy Tab S8 FE with S Pen, but it’s wise not to try to give exact numbers just yet.
