It’s taken a while, but we’re finally at a place where foldable phones are living up to their potential, and the latest and greatest Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4 are currently fetching incredible prices in Black. Friday sale. But that’s not all – both phones come with some exciting freebies, including the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite and 12 months of Disney Plus.

As the cheaper of the two, the Z Flip 4 gets the most interesting deals, with the top pick being unlimited data, minutes and texts for £45 a month and £50. Considering the 100GB data pack is currently £50 and £61 respectively, this is a significant saving.

Despite being more expensive, the Z Fold 4 doesn’t shy away from the discount, once again offering great value for a data-rich package. You can also get unlimited data, minutes and texts here (£200 and £84/month upfront), and the 100GB bundle is also worth a look as it’s reduced to the same price as the 12GB bundle (£200 and £84/month upfront) 80/month). This effectively gives you 88GB more data at no extra cost.

While these are the best value propositions, they aren’t your only options. Both phones offer a wide selection of bundles from 1GB data to unlimited. Best of all, each of them is eligible for free add-ons, so no matter which one you choose, you won’t miss out.

For these prices, you’re getting a lot more powerful phones to offer than the novelty of opening and closing them. First, both the Flip 4 and Fold 4 now run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, offering improved performance over their predecessors. In our on-screen benchmark tests, both phones averaged 119 fps, making gaming performance even better.

In short, both phones offer fast performance and fluid gaming, so there is no help in choosing between them. The obvious point of difference – and one that may influence your choice – is the design. When folded, the Flip 4 becomes a smart, pocketable square, the size of your standard smartphone. The Fold 4, meanwhile, starts at a standard size and opens up to an extra-large display that’s the width of two phones. You can check the physical differences in the image below.

So, the easiest way to choose between this pair is to use it according to your purpose. In our Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 review, we’ll highlight practical apps with a small size that makes it easy to fit in a pocket or bag. This is balanced by the aforementioned strong performance, along with decent cameras and excellent battery life. The displays also get gold stars here, with excellent color accuracy on the inner panels and plenty of useful features on the smaller outer display, including background customization and message feedback.

As you know, the Fold 4 will need bigger pockets, both metaphorically and physically. As mentioned in our Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 review, the best use for the expansive 7.6-inch display is multitasking, scrolling through your Facebook feed and responding to Messenger chats at the same time. The displays also work well with HDR video content, producing stunning highlights that pierce the darkest scenes. Battery life isn’t as impressive as the Flip 4, but considering how big its screen is, it still performs admirably.

The bundled S Pen stylus is great for taking notes or sketching, and the display is excellent despite being an IPS panel. Produces sharp and bright, vibrant colors. Battery life is also a surprise, coming in at 10 minutes less than the standard (and much more expensive) Galaxy Tab S6.

The final flourish of this deal is a full year’s subscription to Disney Plus. If you’re wondering what’s out there, suffice it to say that we update our Disney Plus article every month and never run out of new content to shout about. November saw the final episodes of the Star Wars series Andor, a sequel that has been in the works for more than a decade along with The Densenchant, and the third and fourth seasons of the vampire spoof What We Do in the Shadows.
