Roland Quandt New information has surfaced about the Galaxy Tab S8 FE, the follow-up to last spring’s Galaxy Tab S7 FE, which Samsung codenamed “Birdie.” Taking to Twitter, the leaker claims that the Galaxy Tab S8 FE is the marketing name for the tablet lineup, rather than a supposed name given the existence of the Galaxy Tab S7 FE. While Quandt didn’t reveal marketing images about the next “Fan Edition,” he did outline what to expect from Samsung’s next affordable tablet.
Specifically, the Galaxy Tab S8 FE will launch with an LCD panel rather than AMOLED or OLED. The resolution and refresh rate of the display remain unknown at this stage, but we suspect that Samsung opted for an LCD panel to reduce manufacturing costs. Still, Quandt expects Samsung to complement the LCD with a Wacom digitizer for a “great pen experience” that many low-end tablets lack.
The leaker added that Samsung has assigned the model number ‘SM-X506B’ to the Galaxy Tab S8 FE, with the ‘B’ standing for the European variant. As Quandt points out, GalaxyClub.nl spotted a MediaTek Kompanio 900T model number ARM MT8791V/TZA on Geekbench earlier this year ‘SM-X506B’. It’s currently unclear when Samsung will launch the Galaxy Tab S8 FE, but given how close we are to the holiday season, we wouldn’t be surprised if the company waits until early 2023.
