The Redmi Pad display has thick bezels, but they shouldn’t bother you as the tablet will grow on you over time. The body to screen ratio seems good for multimedia consumption and the tablet is comfortable to hold. It has a uniform and flat frame design made of metal, which feels good in the hand. With a weight of 450 grams and a thin profile of 7.1 mm, the tablet does not fit in the palm of your hand. We had no issues using it in portrait mode for social media and landscape mode for watching movies/shows and working.
We got the Mint Green color and the top variant with 6GB RAM + 128GB storage. The color offers a matte finish, meaning you won’t struggle with cleaning up fingerprints or smudges. Xiaomi is also offering the tablet in Graphite Gray and Moonlight Silver colors.
One of the USPs of the Redmi Tab is its display. You get a 10.61-inch display that has a resolution of 2000×1200 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate – a first for a budget tablet. Xiaomi says the tablet offers 400 nits of brightness.
The Redmi Pad is Widevine L1 certified, which means you can watch your favorite content on OTT platforms in full HD resolution. We’ve seen movies with darker tones like Batman v Superman and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. We tested the display with movies like 2017’s Justice League and Thor: Love and Thunder, which have a wide color range across movies.
In both scenarios, the display’s performance is above what you’d expect from a budget offering. The colors were bright and pleasant. Our eyes didn’t hurt during marathon content viewing sessions. We may be nitpicking, but we found the display to be a little low when watching dark movies. But overall, we’re satisfied with the tablet’s premium offerings.
The display is complemented by a set of speakers that perform equally well. The tablet is equipped with four speakers Dolby Atmos tuning. The speakers are loud and clear. We used the tablet for about an hour a day to play different genres of music, including chill space, psytrance, and hip-hop. We didn’t notice any hissing when listening to the audio at maximum volume.
