Satlov is a member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Manhattan, where he now lives, but his roots are firmly planted in Queens.

“When bright Christmas comes, the letters you see Tablet There is so much we can do, from helping people who need something under the Christmas tree or helping churches and schools with various Christmas events and toy drives for underprivileged students,” explained Satlov.

“How can a child lose something?” “Imagine if you’re a single parent and you can’t give your child new pencils, new notebooks, it’s pointless and heartbreaking,” she said. “A bright Christmas will save these children’s lives.”

With Tablet’s Sparkling Christmas 2022 campaign, Satlov is once again upholding a tradition that dates back more than half a century. The campaign aims to help the less fortunate and ensure that no child goes without a gift this Christmas.

Last year, the Bright Christmas campaign raised more than its goal of $115,000 for diocesan and parish groups, as well as religious education programs, asking for resources to pass on to others. This year’s goal is 125 thousand dollars.

Over the past 12 years, the campaign has raised and distributed more than $1 million. These funds were used to purchase Christmas gifts, food, faith teaching materials and other necessary items.

Satlov encourages others to open their hearts and wallets and give what they can. β€œIn the grand scheme of things, it’s not a lot that I give away, but if a lot of people reach into their pockets and are a little generous, a child who doesn’t have something can come to church or a school hall. maybe have some hot chocolate and cookies and pick up a gift just for them.”

For Satlov, a bright Christmas transcends politics and personal beliefs.

“At the end of the day, it’s about taking care of each other,” she said. “If we can do it better with no fluff or ups and you’ve got a few extra dollars, somebody needs help.”
