New Delhi:

Investigators probing the Mehrauli murder are likely to take help from other police districts in Delhi and will take accused Aftab Amin Poonawala to places like Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand to determine the sequence of events in Shraddha Waqar’s brutal murder, sources said on Thursday. .

A New Delhi court remanded Poonawala in police custody for another five days.

After leaving Mumbai, Walker and Poonawalla traveled to several places and the police would visit these places along with Poonawalla to ascertain whether anything happened during those trips to trigger the murder.

Police also found the garbage van where Walker had dumped his blood-stained clothes and recovered Rs 300 worth of water bills and food bills.

“We will talk to the hotel owners and staff where the couple stayed in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand and identify their Poonawalla. We will take him to the forest area to trace the routes he took while dumping the dismembered body parts,” a source said.

The source said Poonawala had misled investigators about the route he took and would be taken back to the forest.

“We recovered the body parts from four places in the forest area. He used a saw to cut the body parts, which he allegedly bought from a shop on the Mehrauli-Gurgaon road. We will take him to the shop so that the shopkeeper can identify him, ” the source said.

Police are contacting other police districts to share information about any decomposing body parts recovered in their districts in the last six months.

In June, a rotting head and hand were found in bushes at the Ramlila Grounds near East Delhi’s Kalyanpuri area.

“The body parts were preserved. In the absence of any missing persons complaint that could be related to those remains, the case could not be solved. We will share information and details with the South District Police to see if there is any link between the two cases,” said an investigator in the case.

Twenty-eight-year-old Poonawala strangled Walker and cut her body into 35 pieces, which he kept in a 300-litre fridge at his residence in south Delhi’s Mehrauli for nearly three weeks and dumped across the city in the middle of the night for several days.

Poonawalla and Walker met each other through an online dating app. Later they started working in the same call center in Mumbai and fell in love.

But their families objected to the relationship as they were of different religions, prompting the couple to move to Mehrauli earlier this year. In mid-May, the couple had a quarrel over marriage, which escalated and Poonawala killed her.
