Gurugram, India (Metro Rail Today): The Public Investment Board (PIB), Finance Ministry has given approval for implementation of the proposed 28.8-km-long metro rail link between Huda City Center and Cyber City in Gurgaon, Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal said while reviewing the strategy. Performance of Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited (HMRTC) in the 50th meeting of the Board of Directors at Chandigarh on 18th November 2022.
This metro route is expected to have 27 elevated stations between Huda City Center and Cyber City, including a spur on the Dwarka Expressway. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.6,821.13 crore.
This metro link will start from HUDA City Center and will be towards Sector 45, Cyber Park, District Shopping Centre, Sector 47, Subhash Chowk, Sector 48, Sector 72 A, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar Phase 6, Sector 10, Sector 37, will go Basai Village, Sector 9, Sector 7, Sector 4, Sector 5, Ashok Vihar, Sector 3, Bajghera Road, Palam Vihar Extension, Palam Vihar, Sector 23A, Sector 22, Udyog Vihar Phase 4, Udyog Vihar Phase 5 and finally consolidated Rapid Metro at Moulsari Avenue station near Cyber City is on Gurgaon’s existing metro network.
According to Kaushal, the proposed metro line will cover the entire Gurgaon city. He also appreciated the efforts of HMRTC team to clear the project from PIB. “The metro corridor will provide an efficient and eco-friendly transport system for the people of Gurgaon and its surroundings and will help students, women, working class and office goers,” he said.
He also said that the metro link between Rejangla Chowk and Sector-21 Dwarka has already been approved by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and is being sent to the Government of India for approval. “It will provide seamless connectivity from Gurgaon to IGI Airport,” he added.
The progress of Pod Cars of Passenger Rapid Transport (PRT) project to connect Old Domestic Terminal, Chandigarh to Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport Terminal was extensively reviewed and the Chief Secretary ordered officials to expedite the project on the ground.
He said that on the revenue front, Gurgaon Metro has shown its outstanding performance in this financial year as compared to last year. “It has earned Rs 21.6 crore till October 2022 compared to last year’s earnings. ₹3.84 crores. Income from fare and non-fare revenue increased through ridership growth as well as commercial activities,” he said, adding that daily ridership rose from 8,500 per day to 40,000 per day,” he said.
