Hours after the Detroit Lions traded TJ Hockenson to the Minnesota Vikings, the offensive tackle posted a heartfelt post on Instagram, expressing his appreciation for the city of Detroit and the players. and the coaches he met in the Lions organization.
“Detroit, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this city and the people who have welcomed me and my family from the beginning,” Hockenson said. “All the friends and teachers I’ve had here have helped me in every way.”
Good send off, hopefully Hockenson doesn’t hate the management despite the move. Last week, Hockenson told the Detroit Free Press that while he was laughing at the current trade talks, he knew that if something were to happen, it was just part of the business of the NFL.
“It’s a business and whatever they have to do on it they do it,” Hockenson said. “And there’s no – there’s no emotion about it. There’s no, ‘Hey, I don’t like it myself’ or anything about it. That’s just the way it is. So I’m not dumb, I’m not dumb or in that context.”
In his Instagram post, Hockenson also expressed his excitement about joining the 6-1 Vikings.
“MINNESOTA!!! Man I’m so excited! I can’t wait to join this organization. A Midwest kid from day one and can’t wait to get back. LFG!!! #SKOAL [sic]”
