Legendary Indian cricketer MS Dhoni has crossed 40 million followers on social media platform Instagram.
The former India captain and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper joined the 40m club on Friday. With this, he is the second cricketer to have 40 million followers on Instagram.
Apart from Dhoni, there are other cricketers who have a huge presence on the social media app.
Here are the top 10 cricket followers on Instagram in 2022.
Virat Kohli
Former Indian cricketer Virat Kohli is one of the most popular cricketers of today and has a global following of 224 million fans. Apart from being very good at what he does, Kohli also advertises his brand on social media and is considered one of the best in the sport.
MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni, India’s inspirational captain for many years, is second in this list. He is far behind Virat Kohli, but 40 million fans is impressive by any standard.
He retired from international cricket in 2020, however he will continue to play in the IPL till 2023. Dhoni’s fan following of Chennai Super Kings contributed to his popularity.
Sachin Tendulkar
Sachin Tendulkar may have retired from cricket, but he still has a thriving Instagram account. It’s no surprise given his illustrious career, which includes 200 Test matches and 100 international centuries across all formats.
The real surprise here is that Sachin’s 37.1 million fans are not much higher.
Rohit Sharma
The new Indian captain will have to work hard to emulate his predecessor, Virat Kohli. Despite the difference, Rohit Sharma’s Instagram following of 25.8 million people is still impressive.
However, he is nearing the end of his career and time is running out for him to catch up with those at the top.
Hardik Pandya
In his six-year international career, the international pacer has already surpassed some of the most talented players in the game like, AB de Villiers, Yuvraj Singh, Chris Gayle, David Warner, and others more, to reach the top five.
Hardik’s Instagram profile includes various family posts, training photos and videos, endorsements, and other interesting topics. As a result, he has more than 24.2 million Instagram followers.
Suresh Raina
Suresh Raina has been a key player for MS Dhoni’s team in CSK for many years. Even though his colleagues were bigger, Raina went about his work slowly.
The left-hander is a brilliant run-scorer and one of the top bowlers in the IPL. He may be out and about, but his 21.8 million Instagram followers prove his popularity.
AB de Villiers
Although AB De Villiers is the only overseas player on this list, he is known in India as a key player for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.
He is famous all over the world, but his performances for RCB have earned him 19.7 million Instagram followers.
Yuvraj Singh
For many years, Yuvraj Singh was a big man for India. He rose to fame after hitting Stuart Broad for six sixes during the 2007 World T20 tournament.
Yuvi is a bit of a pushover at times, but in the world of social media, that’s not a bad thing. It can’t help but grow his Instagram following to 15.7 million.
KL Rahul
KL Rahul, the vice-captain of the Indian men’s cricket team, is considered a fashion idol by many on social media. She often gives her Instagram followers casual outfits that include bucket hats, oversized T-shirts, edgy styles, and a mix of love-it-hate socks and leggings.
At the time of writing, he has 13.4 million Instagram followers, but he is another athlete who has time on his side.
Shikhar Dhawan
Shikhar Dhawan is a good option for junior cricket. He retired from Indian cricket, but continued to play in the IPL for many years.
Dhawan, a powerful and stylish opening batsman, is based out of India and has amassed over 12.7 million Instagram followers.
