Gurugram: Over 81% voting in second phase of panchayat elections in Gurugram district on Saturday. The state average was 80%.
In the first round on November 10, over 76% voting in Gurugram was reported.
Of the city’s 2.45 lakh eligible voters, around 1.95 lakh turned up to vote at 291 polling stations in Farrukhnagar, Gurugram. The second round of polling was to be held in 9 districts – Ambala, Charkhi Dadri, Gurugram, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Rewari, Rohtak, Sirsa and Sonepat. Sirsa topped the chart with 84.8% votes and Sonipat recorded the lowest at 74.9%.
In the second phase, (conducted in two phases on November 10 and 12) 2,683 sarpanches, 25,655 panchayats, 1,244 panchayat societies and 158 zilla parishads were to be elected in 57 blocks of 9 districts.
