Polybith (UP): An Uttar Pradesh police constable was caught on camera brutally assaulting an accused arrested by his team on Tuesday.

The story of the constable assaulting a man in broad daylight was shot by people on the spot and has now gone viral on social media platforms.

According to reports, the constable in the video is currently stationed at the Pilibhit police station. He assaulted the accused when he tried to escape from police custody to take him to court.

According to information, the accused was arrested on the charge of producing illegal liquor.

Pilibhit SP Dinesh Kumar said, “A man was arrested for illegal liquor and remanded in judicial custody. The man was being taken to the court. The man was in a police car and tried to escape from the police car by jumping out of it. With the help of the police and the public who reached the spot, the police arrested him.’

SP Dinesh Kumar also said that the accused tried to assault the policemen and they had to chase him and forcibly nab him. The accused was re-arrested after the use of force and there was no harm to the public at the scene, SP Kumar added.

“However, we will investigate the incident fully and the current FIR will add charges of assault on police and evading police custody,” said Pilihit SP Dinesh Kumar.
