New Delhi: Army Chief General Manoj Pandey met French Chief of Staff of Air and Space Force General Stephen Mille and discussed various aspects of defense cooperation between the two countries.
The Additional Director General of Public Information said on Twitter, “General Manoj Pandey interacted with #COAS French Air and Space Force Chief of Staff General Stephen Mille and discussed aspects of #defense cooperation between both defense forces.” Apart from the Army Chief, Mill met Vice Chief of Navy Admiral SN Ghormad and discussed defense cooperation and engagement.

Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the French Air and Space Force (FASF) are participating in a bilateral exercise named ‘Garud VII’ from October 26 to November 12, 2022 at the Jodhpur Air Force Station.
In this exercise, FASF is participating with four Rafale fighter jets, one A-330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft and a contingent of 220 personnel. The IAF is participating with Su-30 MKI, Rafale, LCA Tejas and Jaguar fighter aircraft as well as Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) and Mi-17 helicopters, a Defense Ministry press statement read.
Combat enabling assets such as in-flight refueling aircraft, AWACS and AEW&C will also be included in the IAF contingent. This joint exercise will provide a platform for both countries to enhance operational capabilities and interoperability as well as share best practices.
This is the seventh edition of the bilateral exercise. The first, third and fifth editions were conducted in India in 2003, 2006 and 2014 at Air Force Stations Gwalior, Kalaikunda and Jodhpur respectively. The second, fourth and sixth editions were conducted in France in 2005, 2010 and 2019.
The participation of IAF and FASF in this exercise will strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries as well as increase professional interaction, exchange of experience and operational knowledge, the statement said. (ANI)
