Long term report: November 2022 (beginning of Term)

We always wanted to celebrate a green Diwali here autoX, and this has finally been made possible this year, thanks to TVS. That’s because they sent us Qube right before the events started.

The good thing is that we have a lot of time to spend with the iQube because it will be with us for a few months. This version is the iQube S, which means it has a larger 7-inch screen – as opposed to 5 inches on the base – and has adjustable rear shock loads. It also gets a few more features with the iQube smartphone app. Now, I haven’t caught a motorcycle with the app yet, so you’ll have to wait another month before I can see that first.

As a daily commuter, the iQube S impressed me on the first ride. It has a 3.04kWh battery pack and a brushless hub-mounted motor rated at 3kW and 33Nm. The numbers are impressive and reflect well on the road. Let’s just say this scooter isn’t boring! There are two ways – Economy and Power. The first one will get you 100km of range but very hard work – speed doesn’t go above 45km/h on this road. Power mode makes your trip come alive – you can go up to 80km/h, although the range is interrupted to 75kms. Since my commute is 70% highway, I have to ride it in Power mode almost all the time. The range I was able to get on a full charge, however, was 68km on a full charge. Not much, but let’s see if its performance/range remains consistent in the coming months.
