GURUGRAM: Under the supervision of Shiksha-Diksha academic, the education department will conduct a mega monitoring drive of senior secondary schools in the city on Friday. This is the department’s second inspection under the marathon monitoring drive that began last week. Around 103 schools were selected in this round.
About 100 officers of the department will spend a day in these schools and sit through classes to see how educators are implementing the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) program and the new pedagogy under it. Nipun Haryana Mission.
“Effective planning needs to be based on existing realities. This helps us to find out the gaps and some intervention steps need to be taken to improve the quality of education in state-run schools. As per the detailed schedule prepared by the department, only those secondary schools which include primary wing will be visited so that the program conducted under Nipun Haryana Mission can be visited simultaneously. The visiting team will include senior officials of Department of School Education (DSE), District Education Officer, Principal of District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) and officials of SCERT.
For students of Class 1 and 3, officials will assess how effectively educators are using the innovative and participatory pedagogy prescribed by SCERT for the FLN program which aims to enhance students’ core competencies in core subjects such as Hindi, English and the like. Similarly, for secondary and senior secondary students, ie, students from classes 6 to 12, the focus will be on learning outcomes. “For primary students, officials will see if teachers are implementing interactive, participatory and innovative. Pedagogy to enhance students’ cognitive abilities and literacy. They will also evaluate the skill passbook given to the teachers to see how carefully the educators are recording the progress of the students and the challenges being faced,” said Manoj Lakhra, District Coordinator, Nipun Haryana Mission.
Officials will also hold meetings with School Management Committees (SMCs) to find out the outstanding issues and whether they are working as per the mandate.
