Kate Middleton and Prince William joined the royal family in celebrating a big event by sending their Twitter and Instagram pages a brief update.
Keeping with the annual tradition, the British royal family changed their social media photos to reflect Remembrance Day, to remember those who died in war.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, 40, posted a candid shot of them laughing on their 2020 tour of Ireland on their Instagram and Twitter pages. In its place is a picture of the couple at the Ceremony of Remembrance, an annual event at the Royal Albert Hall to remember all those who have died in war, in 2018.

Kate and Prince William also changed their cover photo, swapping out a photo of Union Jack flags flying along a crowded road and a snap from Remembrance Square, featuring poppies in on crosses.
Last year, the Prince and Princess of Wales wanted to change their portrait to a close-up of the poppy, the red flower that has been used since 1921 to honor service members who died in the war, with the number 100 to mark the anniversary of its use.

King Charles and Queen Camilla, who closed their Clarence House accounts and began using the royal family’s social media pages after Queen Elizabeth’s death in September, also changed their photo shoot. At the end of the funeral for Queen Elizabeth, the couple posed for the main picture of themselves at the Balmoral War Memorial in Scotland from May 2020, the 75th anniversary of VE Day.
Ahead of Remembrance Day, King Charles, 73, and Queen Camilla, 75, chose to use a photo from 2009, when they spent Remembrance Day in Canada. They linked it to a cover photo from Field of Remembrance.

Social media pages are a temporary change. After about a week, the pages will return to their previous images.
The last time members of the royal family officially changed their portraits was in September after Queen Elizabeth’s death. In addition to reflecting their new titles, the pages replaced their main profile photos with images of their royal emblems.

Since early November, members of the royal family have also been wearing red poppy pins, the symbol that commemorates those who died in the war. On Wednesday, Princess Kate shared a candid moment with a 3-year-old boy named Akeem during a visit to Colham Manor Children’s Centre. After Akeem noticed his poppy pin, he took it off his shirt and gave it to her as a special gift.
“Do you know what this is for?” Kate asked. “In memory of all the soldiers who died in the war. Thank you — that’s for you.”
