The IRGC Ground Force’s Hamze Sayyid al-Shohada Base said in a statement that its forces arrested the main leader of the “Iranian terrorist TV channel” in the northwestern Iranian city of Khoy.
Following the recent riots in Khoy, hostile TV content issued several calls in the public domain, inciting people to take anti-security measures, formulate plans to instigate acts of vandalism and aim to harm security in the city, it added.
Backed by Saudi Arabia, Iran’s international television channel was founded in London in 2017 as part of a campaign to spread news against the Iranian government.
The television channel has been openly advocating for monarchists, the terrorist group Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO), and most importantly, separatist terrorists, against UK media laws.
Recently, the Islamic Republic designated the channel as a terror organization for its role in fanning the flames of violence during the unrest in Iran.
