Srinagar, November 6 (KNS): The final matches of the inter-university hockey tournaments (for men and women) were played at the University of Kashmir.
In the men’s tournament, Baramulla Government College defeated Ganderbal College of Physical Education by 4 goals to 3, while in the women’s tournament, KU’s PG team defeated the College Women’s Baramulla by 8 goals to 2.
KU Registrar Dr. Nisar Ahmed Mir was the chief guest at the closing ceremony, where Mr. Zahoor Ahmad Wani, SSP ACB, Mr. Ghulam Jeelani Dar, Chief Prosecuting Officer, Professor Gowhar Vakil, Director IOT Zakura and Mr. Riyaz Ahmad Senior Prosecuting Officer were special guests. and distributed the prizes among the finalists.
Dr. Nisar said that the University is making every possible effort to put the best sports infrastructure in the benefit of the students.
Zahoor Ahmad Wani congratulated all the teams for their participation in the inter-university events. He also appreciated the efforts of the Directorate of Physical Education and Sports (DPES) for conducting regular events and creating a robust sports culture in and outside the campus.
DPES coordinator Dr. Mussavir Ahmad highlighted the importance of student participation in sports activities and emphasized the participation of women in sports.
The tournaments were organized by DPES under the supervision of Dr. Musavir and were coordinated by Harbinder Singh, hockey coach of the University.
