Social media managers and creators have long relied on third-party tools to schedule posts on Instagram. But now the company is testing an app-based tool to customize poles and reels.

The company confirmed the development and said that this is being tested. “We’re testing the ability to customize content and impact our global community,” a Meta spokesperson said in a statement. The company did not provide information on the availability of the unit.

Twitter users @WFBrother posted a screenshot showing how it works. Users with this feature can go to Advanced Settings when creating a new post or reel and turn the toggle for “Customize this post” to select the time and day. They also said that you can see the targeted ads through the “Tcheduled Content” section located under the hamburger menu. The section allows you to rearrange the content if needed.

App researcher Alessandro Paluzzi said Instagram is working on one rescheduling feature in July. In August, the company told TechCrunch that “This is an early prototype of an experience that we will not be testing publicly.”

In 2018, the company began allowing businesses to schedule posts via an API so third-party systems like Hootsuite and SocialFlow could take advantage.

Meta has been offering the Instagram customization feature through Facebook Creator Studio since 2020. However, the new in-app customization tool can be useful to creators who don’t have access to the specialized software for social media management. Instagram has been slow to introduce basic requirements because Twitter has had this feature for a few years now.

Earlier this month, the company announced an increase in ad load on the platform to combat Meta’s declining revenue.
