The figures came in response to criticism of allegations that small businesses in Iran have been affected since access to Instagram was banned in the country.

The SCC said that business activity on Instagram is very small compared to the total economic activity of the country.

Iranian government officials, including SCC Secretary Abolhassan Firouzabadi, said the country has no plans to change restrictions on Instagram.

Firouzabadi said that in recent times domestic platforms will be able to provide various services to online businesses in Iran while also saying that the government will provide financial support to businesses migrating to platform of Iran.
