You DON’T need thousands of social media followers to make thousands of dollars with a woman’s smart strategy to earn extra money.
On a podcast featuring side hustles, a listener named Jenna shared her strategy using Instagram direct messages that helped her make over $4,000 a month.

Jenna from Seattle makes extra money through affiliate commissions, even if she doesn’t have an Instagram following.
He told Side Hustle School: “I have five accounts – but none of them have more than a thousand followers.”
The businesswoman says she has adjusted her accounts to fit a specific niche within a business or small business.
Each of the niches is associated with an industry and expensive goods for sale such as jewelry and cars.
To get started, Jenna advises to “pop up” the Instagram account by posting a lot of photos.
“I don’t really care about doing new ads after that, because the account is still there to show the status,” Jenna said.
So, Jenna says she’ll set up a tool to find hashtags and phrases related to industries she’s interested in — and then she’ll start sending direct messages.
“The whole strategy is to send Amazon affiliate links via DM to people who mention the items or something similar.”
However, Jenna warns that the messages will be ignored.
“So, most of them ignore the messages. But some click on the links and buy!”
The Amazon Affiliate marketing program, also known as Amazon Associates, gives website owners like Jenna the opportunity to create unique product links, called affiliate links.
The website owner promotes the link, and when people visit the link and buy from the link, Amazon pays the affiliate a commission.
Jenna advises to choose a niche or industry with high value items to earn big money.
“The reason I chose niches with premium items is because the commissions are higher and it’s not uncommon for strangers to offer affiliate links,” he said.
“Context is everything.”
With this strategy, Jenna was earning over $1,000 a month within two months. However, he will keep all five accounts in case “Instagram doesn’t like this.”
In addition to Jenna’s plan, there are many other ways to get excited.
A woman, Matilda, started her sideline in 2019 without a plan, and now she is a business owner and influencer with more than 2.7 million Instagram followers.
She and her boyfriend worked together and now own a multi-million dollar company.
Another couple started a company of their own as a side hustle.
The couple has a jewelry blog that helps people learn how to make diamonds.
The blog was still a success, so they worked hard to develop it into a full-time business.
