(Pocket-lint) – In an attempt to take over TikTok, Instagram allows its users to add music to their Instagram stories. It offers a full library of licensed music. Most users have access to it (although some business and advertising accounts do not, according to Instagram’s support page). Here’s how to find Instagram’s music library, and how to add music to your Instagram story.
How to add music to your Instagram story
You can find Instagram’s music library by swiping up from the story you recorded and then selecting the music sticker in Stories.
Step 1: Add a photo or video to your Instagram story
To share a photo or video to your story, open the latest version of the Instagram app for Android and iPhone and follow these steps:
- Tap + on or swipe right anywhere in the Feed.
- Continue to the Story below.
- Tap at the bottom of the screen to take a photo or tap and hold to record a video.
To select a photo or video from your phone’s gallery or camera roll, swipe up anywhere on the screen. You may find gallery ideas to help you decide what to share.
Step two: Go to music paste
When you capture a photo or video for your story, you can use creative tools – like music – to edit it before sharing. To add music to your story, you must first find a music attachment.
- When you’re previewing your message before sharing, click the sticker icon at the top.
- Search music.
- Select the music sticker that appears (there’s a wave icon in the icon).
If you don’t see the music attachment in Stories, make sure your app is updated to the latest version by visiting the App Store or Google Play Store. Music attachment is available to most users.
Step three: Find the song you want to use
If you have access to the Instagram music sticker, you can access the library of Instagram licensed music.
If you’re worried about your organization’s security, there’s no need to be.
- From the music folder, search for a song.
- Click on the one you want.
- You can edit which part of the song you want to play in your comment.
- Swipe left to see all the effects and select the one you want to use.
- Click done to finish.
Step four: Write your story
Once you’ve added music to your photo or video and you’re ready to share it to your Instagram stories, just tap your story on the bottom left of the preview screen.
