The loss to the Houston Rockets on Friday night was the worst game of the season for the Atlanta Hawks. Yes, they lost by 30 points to the Charlotte Hornets, but even that game can’t compare to what happened at the Toyota Center last night.
Trae Young and Dejounte Murray scored 44 points and 39 points respectively. With Atlanta leading by 16 points in the third quarter, the two All-Star guards began taunting their opponents. Eventually, Houston’s young team had enough of the taunts, and a fight broke out.
As a testament to Houston’s strength and determination, they prevailed in battle. Houston outscored Atlanta 34-18 in the fourth quarter to complete the win.
When he was available after the game, Murray said, “We’re in control of the game. You know, starting with Trae and I, we’re going to take responsibility. I have to take responsibility. This game is on us, you know, tough stuff, and that’s what it is.”
An embarrassing performance by Atlanta. Not just outclassed, but by the worst team in the NBA. After the game, Rockets guards Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen had fun with Young on Instagram.
Instagram Posts
Shortly after the game, Porter shared a video from television showing Young walking down the field. Porter added the caption, “Twin look at lil fella @jalen,” along with a laughing emoji.
Green also shared the Instagram story, and the Houston fan was rightfully involved. This morning, several memes calling Young “lil fella” are circulating on social media.
Atlanta should be ashamed. Not because of what they do but because of how they play. Hawks coach Nate McMillan needs to carry his players harder. Stay tuned to AllHawks.com for news, highlights, and analysis.
