RCMP in Lac La Biche have charged a teenage boy with three weapons offenses after he was seen posing with guns on Instagram.
On Thursday, officers were alerted to an Instagram post showing a 14-year-old boy armed with four guns. The officers knew him and had a court-ordered condition not to carry a weapon.
RCMP executed a search warrant with police dogs at a home in Lac La Biche and found one, eight-caliber handguns and pepper spray.
As a result, the teenager has been charged with:
- Possession of firearms contrary to order
- Carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of a firearm, ammunition, or firearm
The boy, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was held pending trial pending a conditional release. He will appear in Lac La Biche juvenile court on Dec. 19.
