New Delhi, November 18: Abhishek Singh, an IAS (Indian Administrative Service) officer, was disqualified by the Election Commission for allegedly revealing his Instagram posts.

According to the decision of the Election Commission, “Abhishek Singh used Instagram for spreading his message / join as Inspector General and used his official position to do publicity.”

Abhishek Singh, an officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, was appointed inspector general of Bapunagar and Asarwa districts in Ahmedabad ahead of next month’s Gujarat elections.

On social media, the officer goes by the name Abhishek S IAS and posted two photos. In one, it’s next to a government vehicle with a front bumper and headlights.

In a separate post, he was pictured smiling for the camera alongside three other officials and an armed bodyguard.

The officer was ordered to leave the area and report to his superior. In addition to that, all the property given to him by the government in Gujarat was taken away, including the car that was the subject of his posts.

Krishan Bajpai, another IAS (Indian Administrative Service) officer, has taken over for Singh.

Importantly, Gujarat will hold elections for a new state on December 1 and 5. On December 8, the results will be announced.
