Grey’s Anatomy fans, the time has come for Ellen Pompeo to say goodbye to Meredith Grey.
After portraying the character for 19 years, the actress has taken a step back from her love career. Recently, the ABC drama announced that its final episode as a series will be its winter premiere on February 23. Grey’s Anatomy fandom, Ellen let people know how much she appreciates all the encouragement she has received over the years.
“I am forever grateful and humbled by the love and support you have all shown me, Meredith GRAY and the show for 19 years!” he wrote on Instagram on November 17. “Through everything … nothing … is possible without the best fans in the world. You are all RIDERS and riding with ICONIC has been so much fun!!”
He continued: “I love you so much and thank you so much. This is not your first time on the rollercoaster … you know the show must go on and it will come back. me to visit. With love and thanks XoE 🙏🏼❤️.”
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ on Hulu
Soon after the actress shared her thoughts, Grey’s Anatomy Fans took to the Instagram comments section with congratulatory messages. That said, many were disappointed as the story unfolded.
“I’m sorry! @ellenpompeo Your show has become a part of my life and a big part of me,” wrote one. “Girls the show is titled YOU MAKE IT MAKE SENSE MEREDITH! HOW AM I ALIVE?!!!!” another has been added. “Derek is sick again 😭,” another fan said.
Although Ellen’s coming out caused a lot of backlash, she’s not leaving television yet. He’s currently executive producing and starring in an untitled project for Hulu, so it’s only a matter of time before he’s on our screens again. What’s more, he has been mentioned in previous interviews about not worrying about Grey’s Anatomyin the future.
“[Grey’s Anatomy] I’d rather not,” he said Deadline in September. “I’ll always be in that show. I’m a producer on that show. I’ve been on that show for twenty years — my heart and soul. I’m never going to lose that.” that show is in the air.”
As for Meredith’s writing style outside of the show, the public has already seen an episode of this in the fall finale. After debating between living in Seattle or moving to Boston, he sent a resignation email after his home burned down in a lightning storm.
