Tech giant Google has been on a roll for a while now. With a series of new launches, new updates, and much more, the tech giant is now going to make the lives of Android TV owners easier by making some changes. According to reports, Google will switch from Android Package Kit (APK) to Android App Bundle (AAB) early next year. This update aims to solve all storage issues that come with Google or Android TVs.
Unlike smartphones, TVs have a low storage space that hovers around 8 GB. As a result, Android TV users had to download a few apps to install new apps. For this problem, Google introduced the App Bundle in 2020 and now plans to make it standard for all existing and future TVs by 2023.
With this announcement, the tech giant has also given a six-month period to all app developers to redesign their apps and make them compliant with the new standards. The reason behind the move is to make the app lightweight so storage won’t be an issue.
The company issues a warning that non-compliant apps will be hidden from the TV interface. In simple words, all these fixes can make smart TVs run longer and faster while ensuring that updates keep them safe from possible attacks.
Earlier, Google released a new version of the update for the new Pixel 7 after it addressed the screen pass bug. The bug was discovered by a Hungarian security researcher and was later awarded $70,000.
