Gurugram: With Sheetala Mata Devi Medical College and Hospital Expected to be ready by June 2023, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) plans to ensure that visitors can access it easily. So, this week, the authority floated a tender, inviting bids for the construction of a service road along the master road dividing sectors 102A and 103.
The service road will be 1.7 km long and 5.5 meters wide on both sides. “The project will cost Rs 7.9 crore. Apart from construction of service roads, it will include laying of a drainage network and development of green belts and a footpath,” said a senior GMDA official. “We floated tenders for the project earlier this week and expect to allot it by the end of this year so that next year Work can be started at the beginning,” the official added.
Coming up on 30 acres of land in Sector 102, Sheetala Mata Devi Medical College And the hospital will be the city’s first medical college. It will provide 150 MBBS seats, an academic block and residential facilities. It will also function as a 650-bed multi-specialty hospital. The cost of the project is Rs 679.8 crore including Rs 109 crore for medical and hospital equipment. Announced in April 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the hospital in September 2019. But work on it was delayed by budget changes and the pandemic, finally starting in February
After visiting the project site in May, GMDA CEO Sudhir Rajpal directed officials to ensure road connectivity and proposed a service road near the hospital. In a meeting in October, the CEO directed the officials to speed up the construction of the road.
