Daniel Ricciardo has discovered a new hobby.
The Australian Formula 1 driver launched a second Instagram page on Sunday, showcasing his new passion – photography.
The 33-year-old posted a series of photos from her travels around New York, including some with close friend, Australian snowboarder Scotty James.
Ricciardo also posted a picture of friend Heidi Berger, the daughter of 10-time Grand Prix winner Gerhard Berger, who represented Ferrari and McLaren during his 14-year F1 career.
“I just started pushing the button,” he wrote in the post.
“I still don’t know what I’m doing but I like it.”
The Instagram page gained over 320,000 followers in less than 48 hours.
McLaren sacked Ricciardo after two dreadful years with the Woking outfit, leaving the Perth native without a seat for 2023.
Last month, Ricciardo announced he would not be on the F1 grid next year, opting to take a break and hope to return in 2024.
The eight-time Grand Prix winner put together a vintage performance at the Mexican Grand Prix earlier this month, overcoming a 10-second penalty to finish seventh.
It was an uneventful race in Mexico City until Ricciardo reached out to catch Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda but the AlphaTauri clipped him, sending him off the track and out of the race.
Ricciardo was in 12th place at the time and any hopes of achieving the points seemed unlikely when the stewards handed out a 10-point penalty for dealing with the accident.
But then he turned on the burners on the new soft tires and raced to the ground floor to recover himself and ensure that the penalty did not affect his final result.
The F1 season resumes this week with the Brazilian Grand Prix, with the lights set for Monday morning AEDT at 5am.
