Forbes Asia’s Power Business Women list includes 3 Indian women; Check here
New Delhi: Forbes unveiled its 2022 Asia Power Businesswomen list on Tuesday, honoring 20 outstanding women in business across the Asia-Pacific region. There are also three Indians in the list of women bosses. The list features 20 women, who further expand Forbes Asia’s network of female trailblazers in the region.
In its November issue, Forbes Asia selected women business leaders who have come up with strategies that have made their businesses thrive despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting uncertainty.
The first Indian woman to be named in the list is Ghazal Alag, Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer of Honasa Consumer, the parent company of Mamarth. She started the Gurgaon-based company in 2016 with her husband Varun who is the CEO. In January this year, Alag’s company became a unicorn.
The second Indian businessman on the list is Soma Mondal, chairperson of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), the first state-run company to chair. Forbes said that since Mondal became the chairperson of SAIL in 2021, its annual revenue for the year ending March 31, 2022 has grown by 50 percent.
Namita Thapar, business executive director of MQ Pharma India, is the third Indian named in Forbes Asia’s Power Business Women 2022 list. Thapar, who has also acted as a judge on Shark Tank India, oversees the India business of the Rs 61 billion Pune-based company founded by his father Satish Mehta more than forty years ago.
MQR’s domestic revenue has doubled to Rs 25 billion in 2021 since Thapar took over the company’s India operations five years ago. “I focused on brand building as well as using data analytics to increase the productivity of field staff,” he said.
Other women on the list are from Australia, China, South Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
