FERNDALE, Mich. (WXYZ) — Ferndale High School and Ferndale Middle School will be on lockdown tomorrow (Monday, November 14) “out of an abundance of caution” after an anonymous threat was made to the high school. on social media.
The threat, released to 7 Action News Tuesday afternoon, was posted on Instagram, with the user saying they were bringing three loaded guns to school tomorrow. The threat was directed at the high school, but it is important to note that Ferndale Middle School and High School are located in the same building.
“The safety and security of our students and staff is our highest priority,” said Principal Bobbie Hayes Goodrum, Ph.D., in a message to students and staff. “We encourage anyone with information about this matter to visit our website and submit an anonymous report through OK2SAY.”
The announcement also said the school would be closed to give the Ferndale Police Department time to thoroughly investigate.
Threats like this against Metro Detroit Schools have been happening a lot lately. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department told Us Kim Russell last month that they are investigating threats against schools on an almost daily basis.
“Terrorism is a crime, whether you want to carry it or not,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard warned us in a recent interview.
If you know anything about this particular threat, you can report it anonymously here.
