Everyone should know | Tech Reddy

Google is going to release its first tablet in a few years and we are all wondering how it will turn out. Much is up in the air as to what this device can do, how it can do them, and if you can afford to do them.

Since there are so many questions about the Pixel Tablet, here’s a complete rundown of everything you need to know about it so far. It contains confirmed and current information and is regularly updated as more information becomes available. So, let’s begin.

When will this tablet be released?

Right now, we only know that Google will release this tablet in 2023. Google didn’t give us any information beyond that. It was not mentioned in which quarter or half of the year the tablet will be released.

If we are to guess, Google will indeed launch Pixel devices only in two parts of the year. It releases its Pixel “a” phones halfway through the year (May for the Pixel 3a, August for the Pixel 4a and Pixel 5a, and July for the Pixel 6a) and releases the main Pixel phones in October.

So we can expect it to be released sometime during those times of the year.

How does the dock function work?

This will be the main feature of the Pixel Tablet. The back of the tablet has four connector pins and uses them to connect to a stationary dock.

This dock serves two purposes. For starters, it’s a charger that keeps turning it off and on. As for other functionality, the dock makes it equivalent to the Nest Hub display.

This makes the Pixel tablet the best of both worlds between tablets and smart displays. You can use it as a regular tablet for work, and you can play and dock it if you need to use it as a Nest Hub.

What specifications will this tablet have?

These specs are still a rumor, so you’ll want to take them with a grain of salt. We believe the Pixel tablet will sport a 10.95-inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600. But we don’t know if it is OLED or LCD.

As for the internals, Google has confirmed that it will use its Tenser G2 chip to power the device. This is the chip that powers the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. We’re looking at 128GB and/or 256GB of storage, but that information hasn’t been confirmed by Google yet. We’re not sure how much RAM we’re looking at, but we expect it to be somewhere between 8GB and 12GB.

There will be four speakers for this device, which is pretty standard for modern tablets. Two speakers sit on the left and two on the right.

We know that the Pixel tablet will have a single camera on the back. It will be in the upper right corner of the back page and we are waiting for the resolution information. As for the front camera, it sits inside a large bezel that surrounds the display.

What materials is it made of?

We expect the Pixel tablet to have a premium feel to it. Google has announced that the chassis for the tablet will be made from 100% recycled aluminum. Moreover, the company coated it with a nano-ceramic finish.

Google coated the chassis with ceramic microscopic particles to give it a unique feel. The company said it was inspired by the feel of porcelain, and we can’t wait to get our hands on it to find out!

What software does it run with?

The Pixel tablet comes with Android 13 out of the box. Fortunately, then, Google has Android 12L with tablet optimizations running since late 2021.

Most of Google’s first-party apps have been redesigned to work on larger screens. So apps like Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Keep and more look perfect on the tablet’s large display.

Also, the notification shade is split into two bars for better landscape screen placement. At the top is an app dock that contains apps for quick access. These are the main changes brought by Google and there are many more in the software.

Since this is Google’s hardware and software, we can expect both to work well with each other. However, we will have to wait for the device to launch to know for sure.

How many options will there be?

Officially, we know only one model of the tablet. During both presentations, Google didn’t show other options. But the, 9To5Google Spotted some code inside Android that hints at a possible Pro model.

The Pixel tablet’s official codename is ‘Tangore’. 9To5Google found the text “tangorpro” in the code. This shows a potential pro model of the tablet.

Does this tablet have stylus support?

It seems possible. In May, the Pixel tablet was certified by the USI (Universal Stylus Initiative). It’s an organization that wants to set a standard for stylus compatibility across devices. So, if the Pixel Tablet is certified by this company, it means that it should be compatible with stylus input.

How much does a Pixel tablet cost?

We currently do not have any pricing information for this device. However, Google is marketing the Pixel tablet as a premium product to complement its flagship Pixel phones. With that in mind, we can’t wait for a lower price.

Also, we have to consider the dock. We don’t know if Google will sell the tablet by itself or just with the dock. We expect the company to sell the tablet and dock separately.

So looking at the market Google is targeting and including the dock, we’re estimating $799 for the tablet itself and $899-$949 with the dock.

These are just guesses, so you’ll want to take this with a grain of salt. We’ll update this article when we get more information on pricing.
