A 25-year-old drug addict, Keshav, stabbed his parents, sister and grandmother in an alleged fight within days of his return from a rehabilitation centre, Delhi Police said today. He was allegedly under the influence of drugs at the time of the murder.

Keshav was arrested after the bloodied bodies were found at his residence in Palam in southwest Delhi last night. A sharp object was used to cut their throats and they were stabbed multiple times.

The deceased include Keshab’s grandmother Diwana Devi (75), father Dinesh (50), mother Darshana and sister Urvashi (18). The bodies of his parents were found in the bathroom and the bodies of his sister and grandmother in another room.

Keshav was unemployed since Diwali after quitting his job in Gurgaon.

On November 22 around 10:30 pm, neighbors and relatives living in the same building heard a loud scream from the flat. They called the police.

Keshav was at home, apparently planning to escape, when relatives caught him. The police came and recovered the body.

“Four members of a family including Keshav’s mother, sister, their father and his grandmother were stabbed to death in a house in Palam area. The accused has been arrested,” Delhi Police said.

A case under IPC Section 302 has been registered and further investigation is on in this regard. Preliminary investigation revealed that as the accused did not have a permanent job, the motive for the crime appeared to be a quarrel between family members, police said.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
