New Delhi: In a chilling analogy to the Shraddha Walker murder case, the Delhi Police on Monday arrested a woman and her son for allegedly killing her husband and dismembering him and storing the bits in a fridge.

According to information shared by the police, the accused have been identified as Poonam and Deepak, while the deceased is suspected to be the woman’s husband Anjan Das.

Addressing the media, Delhi Police DCP Crime Amit Goyal said the body was identified after door-to-door verification and analysis of CCTV footage. “Some parts of the body were recovered from Ramlila Maidan in East district on June 5. Then for the next 3 days, two legs, two thighs, a skull and an arm were recovered and then a case was registered,” the official said.

“It was found that the suspected deceased was missing for the last 5-6 months and no missing complaint was lodged by the family members. Lady Poonam and son Deepak were spotted on CCTV footage, they were interrogated and they confessed that they killed her,” Goel added.

CCTV footage shared by news agency ANI from June this year shows the accused walking towards the ground with a bag that allegedly contained body parts of the deceased.

The case comes in the wake of the sensational murder case in which accused Aftab Poonawala killed his live-in girlfriend Shraddha Walker and chopped her body into 35 pieces in May this year. He stored the cut parts in a refrigerator and gradually disposed of them in the forests of South Delhi and Gurgaon.

The accused is currently in Delhi Police custody and is undergoing a polygraph test today.

Awaiting more details.
