Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal is officially stepping out of his ‘boomer phase’.

The CEO of the food delivery app made his first post on Instagram on Thursday with a picture of a poster from the Zomato headquarters (Gurgaon, Haryana). He claimed that he was creating a series of “me-made” posters at the office reception to create a “drive culture” in the company. The first poster shows a woman pointing at the camera. “What started it?” The caption says. It didn’t take long for Zomato’s social media team to commemorate their CEO’s Instagram debut with some hilarious comments. “The beginning of your presence in our relay?” asked the restaurant aggregator app’s Instagram handle. Goyal decided to highlight the momentous occasion with a cheeky tweet. “Guess who’s not a boomer anymore,” the entrepreneur wrote on the microblogging app, before sharing a link on his Instagram account. On Wednesday, Goyal posted a second poster featuring an abstract image. Captioned “Will we get up?”

For those unfamiliar with the term, a ‘boomer’ refers to a person born between 1945 and 1965. It is a term commonly used to describe an elderly person. The restaurant-aggregator firm recently faced much controversy when its co-founder Mohit Gupta resigned. Gupta who single-handedly built a food delivery operation from scratch. In his farewell letter, the entrepreneur explained that he was stepping down to explore “unknown adventures”. “Four and a half years ago I joined Deepi (Deepinder Goyal) and this band of lunatics trying to build the best food tech company in the country, I dare say to the world. During this time, we brought our food delivery business back from the brink, survived the frenetic competition and pandemic, and became a large and profitable business (as impossible as it seemed at the beginning). The journey for India (and then possibly the world) to build a world-class tech business outside of India is still ongoing, only 1% complete,” Gupta wrote.

His resignation follows the company’s deputy chief financial officer, Nitin Savara, who resigned in August. Other high-profile resignations at the food-delivery app include Rahul Ganju, head of new initiatives, and former food delivery head and vice president of global growth Siddharth Jhawar.
