A Nalagarh court today remanded Naresh Kumar, a resident of Baddi, to 14-day police custody, allegedly involved in the manufacture of fake drugs. He is the fourth accused arrested in the case of making fake drugs. He was arrested by a team of narcotics inspectors and police in Baddi last night.

Kingpin’s house was raided

  • Baddi Kingpin Mohit Bansal’s residence raided, drugs and raw materials seized
  • The fourth accused, Naresh Kumar, was involved in the manufacture of fake drugs for six months
  • While the drugs were packed in Baddi, the printing material was procured from Uttarakhand
  • the supplier of raw materials is still at large

State Narcotics Controller Navneet Marwaha said: “It has been established that Naresh Kumar is involved in the counterfeiting of ‘in-process pills’. He is a resident of Kiratpuri Umrikala in Muaradabad. Several more people involved in this racket may be arrested in the coming days.

Naresh, who works in a pharmaceutical department in Baddi, has been involved in manufacturing fake medicine for the past six months. He has a diploma from ITI. Investigation revealed that while the drugs were being packaged in Baddi, printing materials were procured from neighboring states like Uttarakhand.

Teams of eight narcotics inspectors raided Baddi and various places in UP to nab other people involved in this illegal trade. Although the racket was discovered a week ago, the supplier of the raw material is still at large. It is being verified whether a licensed raw material trader from Baddi also had a role in this trade or whether the material was supplied only by UP traders.

Narcotics sleuths and police also raided kingpin Mohit Bansal’s residence in Phase III Housing Board Colony in Baddi. The team found 24 drugs, a huge stockpile of raw materials, semi-finished products, printed foils and machine parts used in the manufacture of counterfeit drugs.

More than Rs 1 crore worth of fake drugs were seized from a godman in Baddi and an unauthorized manufacturing unit was shut down by officials last week after three people were arrested. Meanwhile, drug depots in Agra and Aligarh are being inspected by a team of narcotics inspectors, where fake drugs are sent for sale. It was revealed that drugs were sold to at least 30 retail shops by Mohit Bansal.
