Chunav Manch Gujarat 2022: Ahead of the upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections, All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi criticized Union home minister Amit Shah for his comments in Gujarat in 2002.
Speaking on Indian TV’s Chunav Manch on Saturday, Owaisi criticized Shah’s comments, saying the minister was “justifying state violence.”
The AIMIM leader’s comments were in response to Shah’s statements in which he said that anti-socialists had earlier indulged in violence in Gujarat as the Congress supported them, but after the perpetrators were “taught a lesson” in 2002, they stopped such activities and the BJP established “permanent peace” in the state.
“The whole world knows that the 2002 riots are genocide. After the Godhra incident, thousands of people were killed in the country. Many Muslim women are raped. Many people were killed, including Hindus. And, if the Home Minister talks like this, he is justifying state violence,” Owaisi added.
Owaisi questions Shah’s claims
Speaking further, he asked why all those convicted in the 2002 Bilkis Bano rape case were released from prison if Shah says he taught lessons to criminals?
“The Naroda Patiya massacre convicts are out on bail and then they are asking to vote for Modi and you are calling it a lesson,” he said. Owaisi also accused the BJP of giving tickets to Bilkis Bano’s rapist. He also called BJP as “bada recharge” and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as “chhota recharge.”
Owaisi criticizes AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal
The AIMIM leader also hit out at Kejriwal saying that he was the one who defiled Tablighi Jamaat in the first installments of COVID, calling them “propagators.
” Kejriwal’s lies about Tablighi Jamaat were exposed in the Supreme Court. He is the same person who does not open his mouth on the issue of Bilkis Bano… he does not open his mouth on the issue of the same Civil Code… Modi ji topi nahi pehente aur Kejriwal topi pehna dete hain (Modi ji is not wearing a cap and Kejriwal is making someone wear a cap),” he said.
Owaisi is accused of murdering Shraddha
Talking about the infamous Shraddha Walkar murder case, Owaisi said the accused “Aftab Poonawala is not a human being, he is a monster.” He also dismissed it as a ‘love jihad.’
“What is love jihad? Amit Shah’s ministry answered in Parliament that love jihad does not happen. In Islam, you cannot even touch a woman without your wife. Whatever Aftab does is condemned, he is a monster, not a person. But it is not right to associate events such as religion, said Owaisi.
It should be noted here that the elections to the 182-member Gujarat Assembly will be held in two phases – on December 1 and 5 – and the counting of votes will be taken on December 8.
