Uorfi Javed said Chetan Bhagar dragged him into the conversation.

New Delhi:

Writer Chetan Bhagat said his comments about reality TV actor Uorfi Javed were taken out of context. Mr Bhagat is facing criticism on social media after he said that the youth of the country, especially boys, are disturbing Ms Javed.

In a tweet, the “2 States” author said he was just telling “people” to focus on their work and not waste time on Instagram.

“I told people to focus on fitness and their work and don’t waste time on Instagram. It doesn’t seem like it! So they cut me off and said out of the context, the keyword and add what I didn’t say and the baiting A section and maturity has been re-released. Of course, “said Mr Bhagat.

The controversy started when Mr Bhagat, at a literary event, took Ms Javed’s name and said that today’s youth spend a lot of time on Instagram.

“The phone is a real distraction for the youth, especially boys, who spend hours watching Instagram Reels. Everyone knows who Uorfi Javed is. What do you do with his photos? It’s going from the audition you go to the interview and tell the interviewer you know all his clothes?” Mr. Bhagat said.

“On the one hand, there are young people who are protecting our people in Kargil, on the other hand, there are young people who are seeing pictures of Uorfi Javed hiding in their blankets,” the author said.

Ms Javed criticized the author, saying she was dragged into the story.

“Men like him criticize women all the time instead of admitting their weaknesses,” Ms Javed said in an Instagram post. “Stop promoting conquest culture you sick people out there. Blaming women’s clothing for men’s behavior is 80s Mr Chetan Bhagat,” he added.

He also shared screenshots of Mr Bhagat’s WhatsApp messages, which were released during the #MeToo movement in 2018.

Terming the allegations as false, Mr Bhagat said, “I have never spoken to / chatted with / met / known anyone that I have been spreading. It is false. I also think there is nothing wrong with tell people to stop wasting time on Instagram and focus on fitness and exercise.”
