Former leftist leader Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva won Brazil’s recent presidential election.
He defeated the right-wing President Jair Bolsonaro, but some of Bolsonaro’s supporters do not accept the election results and say they were stolen.
“He drew these kinds of crowds and lost? Riiiiiight,” said an Instagram post showing a video of the appearance of many Bolsonaro supporters.
“Another stolen vote!” said another poster.

Bolsonaro has not yet accepted the election but he has not disputed it, and he has urged his supporters to end their criticism of the election results.
Bolsonaro’s chief of staff also said that he was authorized by the president to begin the transfer of power and Brazil’s Supreme Court issued a statement saying that by authorizing the transfer of power, Bolsonaro has recognized the election results.
The protests come after years of Bolsonaro’s attacks on Brazil’s electoral systems, with the New York Times saying the president “created the myth of stolen elections in Brazil.” Bolsonaro has previously said that election officials counted the votes in the elections and he alleged that activists tried to steal the 2018 election from him but failed.

Brazil’s election officials, fact-checking agencies and independent experts on election security who have studied the country’s electoral system said the claims were false, the Times reported.
Claims of massive vote rigging in Brazil are making the rounds in the US, where misinformation about US midterm elections is making the rounds.
