Mangaluru, Nov 18: Daijiworld’s 24×7 Konkani television poetry recitation show ‘Biri Biri Pavs’ culminated with the announcement of the winner and runners-up on Thursday, November 17.
Arya Dhargalkar from Goa won season 1 of the game and was awarded Rs 25,000 cash, a trophy and a certificate. Danica Pahal from Kerala bagged the first runners-up prize of Rs 20,000. Sharwani Nayak from Goa bagged the second runner-up prize of Rs 15,000.
The finalists, Eldon D’Souza, Mangaluru, Prachithi Raikar, Goa, Shwetha Pai, Kerala, and Vaibhav Majalikar, Goa were awarded Rs 5,000 each. Anson Nazareth and Adi Varekar secured 8th and 9th place and took home the cash.
The show had three rounds. In the first round, Smitha Shenoy, a Konkani poet from Mangaluru was the celebrity judge along with judges Melwyn Rodrigues and Titus Noronha. Dr. Rajay Pawar from Goa was the celebrity judge for the second round. In the final round, Jnanpith honored Damodar Mauzo, all the way from Goa to be the famous judge. Damodar Mauzo interacted with the finalists and thanked them for reciting Konkani poetry and its presentation in a competitive manner.
Along with Damodar Mauzo, James Mendonca, sponsor of the exhibition, Walter Nandalike, founder, Daijiworld Media Group Pvt Ltd, Nandagopal Shenoy, president , Konkani Bhas ani Samskruthi Prathishtan, Kishoo Barkur, president, Kavita Trust, Alexis Castelino, director, Daijiworld were present at the venue during the event of distribution of prizes.
Appreciating the efforts of Kavita Trust and Daijiworld TV to promote Konkani poetry on digital platforms, James Mendonca said, “Thanks to this show, we have been introduced to many top, popular and new poets. The contestants were coached and coached by the judges on poetry, language and history lessons. I can say that this exhibition is the most important in the Konkani world of literature and entertainment. These types of efforts should be continued. During this time, along with reciting poems, participants should practice writing their own poems.”
Wishing the winners success, Walter Nandalike said, “In the early days of this show, I had doubts about its success. But viewers proved us wrong and embraced the show wholeheartedly. In a few episodes, the participants become celebrities. Usually, reality shows have drama and entertainment scripted, nut Biri Biri Pavs won people’s hearts without scripted emotions. All we can say is that this show paved the way for a revolution in the land of Konkani poetry.”
Thanking the viewers, participants and staff, Kishoo Barkur said, “Biri Biri Pavs is a unique concept created by Kavita Trust and Daijiworld TV. We have to appreciate Stany Bela’s efforts as a director for the success of this show. The entire team including the host and the judges put their heart and soul into the show.”
Nandagopal Shenoy said, “Generally, there was a perception that only adults liked poetry. But with the reality show Biri Biri Pavs, it is proved that the younger generation is also interested in poetry and literary studies. Daijiworld and Kavita Trust have shown how to reach people through poetry and its various aspects. At the same time, candidates from different countries prove that there are no language barriers. No one can separate people who speak the same mother tongue and are scattered in different regions.”
Host Manoj Fernandes has received great appreciation from dignitaries and audience for his flawless communication between contestants and judges. He also won the hearts of the viewers with his knowledge of Konkani language and clarity of words.
The six-month reality show aired on Daijiworld TV consists of 27 episodes. The Goa auditions were held under the auspices of Konkani Bhasha Mandal. The entire scene was shot at the World Konkani Centre, Shaktinagar, Mangaluru. Kamath Caterers, Mangaluru were the hospitality partners of the event.
