Three-year-old Gene, the son of comedian Amy Schumer and her husband Chris Fischer, was hospitalized for RSV while Schumer was performing on “Saturday Night Live” last week. .

Schumer posted a video and a series of photos from her week on the set of the show, where she talked about what goes on behind the scenes of her hosting career.

“This has been the hardest week of my life,” Schumer wrote on her Instagram post. “I missed Thursday’s practice when my son was rushed to the ER and checked in for RSV. Calling all parents who are struggling right now.”

According to the CDC, Respiratory Syncytial Virus Infection (RSV) is “a common flu virus that causes mild, cold-like symptoms.”

According to the website, while most people get better within a week or two, it can be problematic for infants and adults.

In her post, Schumer thanked the “SNL” cast for their support over the weekend.

“I was with him all day at the hospital and the wonderful people at @nbcsnl couldn’t have been more supportive,” she said.

“My son is home and better. The reason this show is so much fun is not the work or the show itself. It’s spending time with the people there,” he continued. Schumer continued.

The comedian wrapped up his Instagram post by thanking some of the “SNL” cast and thanking the doctors and nurses who helped his son.
