Amazon India has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with TVS Motors, and this partnership aims to improve existing electrical infrastructure, mobility, and connected services. Both the companies have joined hands to deliver electric vehicles, to boost the electrification of India. TVS will send two- and three-wheelers to Amazon’s last mile.
The agreement will benefit local transport players, distribution partners, vehicle operators, and EV stakeholders. This agreement provides for a possible increase in the share of EVs in Amazon’s last-mile delivery and will provide all these parties the opportunity to participate in TVS Motors’ product and service offerings in the commercial mobility sector.
Amazon, the American multinational, is spread across sectors, and is the world’s leading merchant. Its Indian arm has evolved over the past few years. Amazon is among India’s leading e-commerce giants, along with local giants such as Flipkart, and is steadily growing in India’s market share.
TVS Motors Pvt. Ltd. is an Indian multinational motorcycle manufacturer and a member of the TVS group and has a strong presence both domestically and internationally. This MOU appears to be a well-thought-out and mutually beneficial move.

The move comes as expected from Amazon, as the company has already announced its plans to expand into the EV domain. Amazon India announced in 2020 its goal to include 10,000 EVs in the next five years (by 2025). The company had previously decided to contribute to the Climate Commitment – a commitment to achieve net-zero carbon by 2040, ten years ahead of the Paris Agreement. The company has also committed to delivering 100,000 EVs worldwide by 2030, and this move will follow its plans to expand its EV network around the world.

TVS Motors is currently the third largest motorcycle company in India and the second largest exporter outside of India, with exports to more than sixty countries. TVS had plans to have electric cars in all segments like delivery, passenger and premium, which it had announced earlier. TVS Motor Company will showcase a complete portfolio of electric vehicles in the two-wheeler and three-wheeler categories, and will take place over eight quarters in the domestic and international markets. With this initiative, TVS intends to expand and strengthen its focus on presence in all major cities, charging solutions, and other ownership models in India.
Amazon recently opened its transportation and logistics network, Amazon Shipping, to third-party sellers, businesses, and direct-to-consumers (D2C) brands in India. TVS Motors, apart from providing EVs for Amazon’s last-mile delivery, will also work to test EV usage scenarios for Amazon’s various business groups in terms of network and logistics needs. To test solutions, the companies will pilot TVS Motors EV solutions using partner infrastructure and service delivery across India. This move will strengthen Amazon Fulfillment and provide an efficient and friendly way of working for the e-commerce giant.
