Amazon plans to have 1,000 Rivian electric delivery vans on US roads by the end of the year. These EV vans are running in 100 cities across the country.
The internet giant has revealed that it aims to have 100,000 Rivian electric vans in operation by 2030, as part of a massive order that has taken the EV maker off the ground.
“We’re always excited this holiday season, but delivering to customers across the country with our new zero-emission vehicles for the first time makes this year different,” said Udit Madan, Amazon’s vice president of transportation, on the Amazon blog. . “We have already delivered more than 5 million packages with our Rivian-produced vehicles, and this is just the beginning – that number will grow rapidly as we move towards our 100,000 vehicle goal.”
“Electrification of ships is essential to reach the global goal of zero emissions,” said Jiten Behl, Rivian’s chief growth officer in the same blog. “So, to see our increase in product support for Amazon delivery in cities across the country is amazing. Not just the environment, but also our teams working hard to get tens of thousands of electric vehicles on the road. They continue to be inspired by our collective work and positive feedback about the performance and quality of the vehicle. “
