Gurugram, Nov 26 (PTI) An unidentified person allegedly shot a worker inside a convenience store in Gurugram after he was not allowed to smoke cigarettes, police said on Saturday. The man entered the 24-hour convenience store in Sector 22 with a cigarette in his hand around 4 am on Friday. According to a complaint, he abused the staff when the security guard asked him not to smoke inside.
Security manager Rupendra Singh said the man shouted at staff and demanded someone come with him to put the purchases in his car parked outside the store. While the goods were being loaded into the car, the man suddenly started loading his pistol and fired at the shop associate Ashish, who narrowly escaped.
The man claimed store employees insulted him by stopping him from smoking inside and fled the scene in his car, the complaint said.
An FIR has been registered at the Palam Vihar police station under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. The entire incident was captured on CCTV footage and police are trying to identify the suspect with the help of the vehicle’s registration number, said investigating officer Ashok Kumar.
“The suspect will be arrested as soon as possible,” Kumar added.
