Gurugram: The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum in Haryana’s Gurugram on Tuesday ordered the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) to pay an interim compensation of Rs two lakh to a woman who was injured in a pet dog attack. The forum also said that this compensation amount can be recovered from the owner of the dog if the MCG so desires. In fact, on August 11, the victim Munni, who works as a domestic worker in the area, was attacked by a dog belonging to a man named Vineet Chikara while she was going to work with her brother-in-law.

Woman seriously injured after dog bite
On August 11, Vinit Chikara’s dog attacked Munni, who works as a domestic worker in the area, while she was on her way to work with her sister-in-law. He sustained severe injuries on his head and face and was referred from Civil Hospital in Gurugram to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.
In the FIR registered at the Civil Lines police station, the dog’s breed is mentioned as ‘Pitbull’. Later the owner said that the breed is ‘Dogo Argentino’.
It ordered a ban on 11 foreign breeds of dogs and directed the MCG to keep all stray dogs in animal shelters after seizure. The forum directed the MCG to frame a policy for pet dogs within three months.
