A Pennsylvania teenager was arrested after authorities accused him of revealing the body of a fatal shooting victim during an Instagram video chat with an acquaintance.
The 16-year-old suspect, who was arrested Friday in Bensalem, northeast of Philadelphia, reportedly asked for help disposing of the body during the call, the city’s police department said. great in reporting.
The teenager was charged as an adult with criminal homicide, tampering with evidence and possession of criminal tools, police said. He was arraigned Friday night and ordered held without bail, they said.
Authorities were alerted to the homicide at 4:11 p.m., when a woman called 911 and reported that an acquaintance of her daughter had contacted her on Instagram, said the police department.
Police allege the teenager confessed to his victim and turned on the video, showing the man’s legs and feet covered in blood.
“He then asked for help in removing the body,” they said.
When authorities went to the teenager’s home, they saw someone running from the back of the trailer, police said. They found a person identified in the release as a young woman with a gunshot wound.
The victim has not been publicly identified. His relationship with the alleged teenager is unclear.
The suspect was caught about a mile from the home and taken into custody, the police department said. Authorities said it was a “huge” effort to clean up the area.
The teenager was held in a juvenile detention center. It was unclear if he had a lawyer to represent him.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 7, according to court records.
