Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal said the Public Investment Board has cleared the 28.5 km long metro corridor between Huda City Center and Gurugram’s Cyber City.
Kaushal appreciated the efforts of the Haryana Gana Rapid Transport Corporation team for approving the project from the Board.
“It (the project) will cover the entire Gurugram city,” an official statement quoted Kaushal as saying.
He said it would provide efficient and environment-friendly transport to the people of Haryana, especially those living in and around Gurugram.
This will help students, women, working class and office goers in and around Gurugram, he said.
The Metro Rail Corridor from Rejangla Chowk to Dwarka Sector 21 has already been approved, said Chief Secretary, who reviewed the performance of Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited (HMRTC) in the 50th meeting of the Board of Directors on Friday. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, and is being sent to the Central Government for further approval.
It will provide seamless connectivity from Gurugram to Indira Gandhi International Airport.
According to officials, Gurugram Metro has seen significant growth this financial year and has emerged as an entity with operating profit for the first time.
