Earlier today, Ellen Pompeo shared a sweet message with him Grey’s Anatomy fans on Instagram when he announced that he was leaving the show after being on it for 19 years.
“I am forever grateful and humbled by the love and support you have all shown me, Meredith GRAY and the show for 19 years!” wrote Pompeo, 53. “Through all of this … none of it … would have been possible without the best fans in the world. You are all RIDERS and you all made riding and ICONIC!! I love you and appreciate it. you’ll be back. It’s not your first time on the roller coaster… you know the show must go on and I’ll be back to visit . With love and thanks XoE 🙏♥”
If you haven’t seen the last episode of Fall, this is a spoiler warning!! Meredith’s statement this time is that she left “Seattle for Boston, where she accepted a position with the Catherine Fox Foundation to research Alzheimer’s disease.” In his post, Pompeo said he would “come back to visit” and that his departure from the show doesn’t mean he’s gone entirely.
