Instagram fixes this bug affecting iPhone users | Tech Reddy

By Meta Instagram has announced that it has fixed a bug that was crashing the app for some iPhone user. Instagram confirmed on its Twitter handle that the issue has been patched by a new update (version 255.0) for the photo sharing app on iOS. The company has also recommended users to download the latest update from the App Store only.

How this new bug affects iPhone users
Recently, many iPhone users have taken to Twitter and other platforms to report that they have experienced an issue where Instagram crashes a few seconds after clicking on the app’s icon.

Users explained that every time they tried to open Instagram, the app would show the launch screen for a few seconds before crashing and stopping working for them. After the crash, users are returned to the iOS home screen.

Other users reported that restarting their iPhone and reinstalling the Instagram app did not solve the problem. Affected iPhone owners used the hashtag “instagramcrash” on Twitter to share their reports of the issue.

Some users shared videos showing this issue on Twitter. These reports prompted Instagram to quickly release an update that would break the bug. The only way for iPhone users (who could not access their Instagram account on their smartphone) to access Instagram is through a web browser.

Recently, photo-sharing platform Meta paid an Indian model Rs 38 lakhs for discovering a malicious bug that could allow hackers to access social media accounts.

Recently, Meta announced that it is introducing new formats and ad placements on the app. It said that these new formats are being introduced for advertisers to “connect better with users on Instagram.”
